Rowe's hat trick boosts Dunnville over Port Dover, 8-4

Luke Rowe lifted the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats to an 8-4 victory with a hat trick against the Port Dover Sailors.

Rowe's first goal came 15:39 into the second period. He then added goals at 10 seconds into the third and at 17:22 into the third.

Port Dover was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Dunnville was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Jr. Mudcats' offense rang up 38 shots on the Sailors' net. Dunnville outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Jr. Mudcats average 4.1 goals per contest.

Dunnville additionally got points from Evan Huckalo, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Brandon Dear, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Travis Sheldrake, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Dunnville also had goals scored by Steven Czepek and Josh Phibbs, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Jeff May, who had five, Josh Meeuwse, Matt Dolan, and Chad Springer, who each chipped in one, and Ryan Hannigan and Dan Arrowsmith, who contributed two each.

Port Dover was led by Braden Roberts, who registered one goal and one assist. Roberts scored on the power play 2:19 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A hooking penalty on Meeuwse had put the Sailors on the power play. Josh Turberfield picked up the assist. Others who scored for Port Dover included Travis Walker, Colin Montour, and Michael Boateng, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Port Dover were Tyson Myke, Michael Almas, and Colton McLeod, who each chipped in one.

Brennan Head made 24 saves for Dunnville on 28 shots. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Port Dover's Mike Caluori stopped 30 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Sailors incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Port Dover, Boateng was ejected from the game.
