Grimsby rolls over Simcoe, 3-0

The Grimsby Peach Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Simcoe Storm, and when the final buzzer sounded Peach Kings emerged with a 3-0 win.

Grimsby got the win thanks to a great game by Eric Cerino, who had one goal and two assists. Cerino scored 13:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Curtis Conrad provided the assist.

The Peach Kings' defense was surprisingly good. Grimsby gives up 2.2 goals on average per game. Simcoe was unable to stop the Peach Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Grimsby eventually piled up 48 shots on goal.

Grimsby also got points from Joshua Kozielski, who also registered one goal and two assists and Conrad, who also grabbed one goal and two assists.

The Storm could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Simcoe averages 3.6 goals per game. The Storm could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Fraser Kirk rejected 22 shots on goal for the Peach Kings. Grimsby incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Peach Kings, Christian Gaetano was ejected from the game. Nathen McKinnon recorded 45 saves for Simcoe. The Storm registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Simcoe ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jackob Miller was ejected from the game.
