Melbourne Mustangs had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over Newcastle North Stars.

Joseph Hughes had two goals and one assist to lead Melbourne Mustangs. Hughes scored the first of his two goals at 10:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Melbourne Mustangs. Jeffrey Grant provided the assist. Hughes' next tally made the score 3-0 Melbourne Mustangs with 7:03 left in the first period. Melbourne Mustangs was on a disadvantage when Adrian Nash went off the ice for boarding. Grant picked up the assist.
