Pikes Peak Miners 16U vanquishes HC Dallas 16U in shootout, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pikes Peak Miners 16U defeated HC Dallas 16U in a shootout 2-1.

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. Pikes Peak Miners 16U also got a shootout goal from Ethan Daniels.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U was led by goalie David Fessenden, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Fessenden managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.18 prior to the game.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U was helped by Brenden Polaski, who registered one goal. Polaski scored 4:58 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pikes Peak Miners 16U. Nicholas Kiemel assisted on the tally.

HC Dallas 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

HC Dallas 16U was led by Hunter Bersani, who scored the team's only goal. Bersani scored on the power play 8:05 into the second period to make the score 1-1. HC Dallas 16U had gained a power play chance when Noah Kiemel was whistled for slashing. Cameron Ferguson picked up the assist.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. George McBey made 18 saves for HC Dallas 16U on 19 shots. HC Dallas 16U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
