Jack Sampson had two goals to lead West Michigan Hounds 16U to a 2-1 victory over Pikes Peak Miners 16U.

Sampson scored at 4:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 West Michigan Hounds 16U and again while 7:19 into the third to make the score 2-1 West Michigan Hounds 16U.

In addition, West Michigan Hounds 16U received assists from Tyler Deweese and Michael Kelley, who contributed one each.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow West Michigan Hounds 16U to score on any of its five power plays.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U was led by Ross Hanson, who scored the team's only goal. Hanson scored on the power play 8:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Pikes Peak Miners 16U had taken the advantage when West Michigan Hounds 16U's Christian Surns got sent off for boarding. Griffen Medina provided the assist.

Tyler Roe recorded 16 saves for West Michigan Hounds 16U. West Michigan Hounds 16U ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Pikes Peak Miners 16U's Joe Chekan stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Pikes Peak Miners 16U incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
