Port Dover rolls over Niagara, 6-2

The Port Dover Sailors were firing on all cylinders against the Niagara Riverhawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Sailors emerged with a 6-2 win.

 

Port Dover's penalty kill excelled, as the Sailors gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Port Dover was led by Bryson Barr, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Barr scored 14:39 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Port Dover. Nick Chiarot picked up the assist.

The Sailors stifled Niagara's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Port Dover's offense rang up 35 shots on the Riverhawks' net. The Sailors found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Port Dover has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Port Dover additionally got points from Braden Roberts, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Port Dover included Brandon Dunrett, Camden Freeman, Jordan Lenko, and Travis Walker, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Dover came via Michael Almas, Colin Montour, and Jacob Dafoe, who each chipped in one.

Niagara's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 18 Port Dover power plays. The Riverhawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 54 minutes in penalties during the game.

Niagara was helped by Kyle Robertson, who registered one goal. Robertson scored 9:13 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Alex Cipriano provided the assist. Lucas Marcon also scored for Niagara. In addition, Niagara received assists from Dylan Lazarus, who had two.

#$self.jersey recorded 20 saves for the Sailors. Port Dover incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Kyle Poole made 29 saves for the Riverhawks on 35 shots.
