Rimac's goals lift Hagersville to 3-1 victory over Glanbrook

The Hagersville Hawks relied on the scoring touch of Matt Rimac, who netted two goals, to beat the Glanbrook Rangers, 3-1.

Rimac found the back of the net on the power play 5:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hagersville and again while 8:16 into the second to make the score 3-1 Hagersville.

Hagersville was led by goalie Curtis Dortenzio, who finished with 40 saves while allowing one goal. Dortenzio certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.29 entering the contest.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Glanbrook power plays. Hagersville's offense rang up 36 shots on Glanbrook's net.

Hagersville also got points from Derek Friesen, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Nick Sherwood, who had two and Cole Martin and Jacob Solomon, who contributed one each.

The Rangers were held below their usual level of production. Glanbrook averages 4.3 goals per game. The Rangers' offense rang up 41 shots on the Hawks' net. Penalties took their toll on Glanbrook, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

The Rangers were led by Aaron Smith, who scored the team's only goal. Smith scored 10:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Glanbrook. Cole Anderson assisted on the tally.

Hagersville incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jay Payton rejected 33 shots on goal for Glanbrook. The Rangers ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Glanbrook ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Malcom Toman was ejected from the game.
