Grimsby outlasts Dundas, 4-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Grimsby Peach Kings escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Dundas Blues.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brennan Smith's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Grimsby forced Dundas goalie Brock Novak to work between the pipes, taking 55 shots.

Grimsby additionally got points from Matthew Jambrosich, who also had one goal and one assist. Grimsby also had goals scored by Andrew Brown and Jeromy Hopkins, who scored one goal each. More assists for Grimsby came via Christian Gaetano, Eric Cerino, Garnet McComber, and Curtis Conrad, who each chipped in one.

The Blues put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Peach Kings to score on any of their six power plays. Dundas' offense rang up 32 shots on Grimsby's net.

The Blues were helped by Kevin Jaczenko, who tallied two goals. Jaczenko scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Dundas had taken the advantage when the Peach Kings' Griffin Roubos got sent off for slashing. Nick McMullen assisted on the tally. Jaczenko's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Grimsby with 5:06 left in the second period. The Blues had gotten the advantage when Grimsby's Curtis Jacques was sent off for holding. Connor King provided the assist. Dundas also got points from McMullen, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Cam McConnell, who had one and Braxton Andrews, who had two.

Fraser Kirk recorded 29 saves for the Peach Kings. Grimsby incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Brock Novak made 51 saves for Dundas on 55 shots. The Blues incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
