Hagersville rips Glanbrook, 7-3

The Hagersville Hawks were firing on all cylinders against the Glanbrook Rangers, and when the final buzzer sounded Hawks emerged with a 7-3 win.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:44 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Hagersville's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Hawks surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Hagersville forced Glanbrook's goalies to work in net, launching 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Jay Payton made nine stops and Matthew Venturelli made 15. The Hawks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Hagersville averages 3.5 goals per contest.

The Hawks were led by Matt Rimac, who racked up one goal and one assist. Rimac scored 5:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mitch Green assisted on the tally. Hagersville also got points from Green, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Cole Martin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Dan Mederios, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Hagersville included Brayden Hill, Derek Friesen, and Jacob Solomon, who each put in one. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Derek Low, who had two and Kyle Phibbs, Aaron Panter, Bailey Fletcher, John Monture, and Nick Sherwood, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Glanbrook had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Rangers' offense rang up 44 shots on Hagersville's net.

Glanbrook was helped by Tyler Strabac, who tallied one goal. Strabac scored 16:41 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Hagersville. Kyle Dumais provided the assist. Glanbrook additionally got points from Garnet Batrynchuk, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Noah Matteson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Glanbrook came via Malcom Toman, who had one and Curtis Edwards, who had two.

Curtis Dortenzio made 41 saves for the Hawks on 44 shots. Hagersville registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For the Hawks, Fletcher was ejected from the game. The Rangers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Team's Aaron Smith and Chris Haigh were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
