Grimsby holds on for 4-2 win against Hagersville

The Hagersville Hawks tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Grimsby Peach Kings held on for a 4-2 victory.

A goal by Matthew Jambrosich put Grimsby up 4-1 in the third period, but Hagersville pulled to within two on Kyle Phibbs's tally 16:21 into the third period.

The Peach Kings' offense rang up 32 shots on the Hawks' net.

Grimsby was helped by Michael Konkle, who racked up one goal. Konkle scored 6:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Malcolm Lynett assisted on the tally. Grimsby additionally got points from Curtis Conrad, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Eric Cerino also scored for Grimsby. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Andrew Brown, Andrew McMurtrie, Garnet McComber, Nicholas Purves, Griffin Roubos, and Curtis Jacques, who contributed one each.

Hagersville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Hawks wound up below its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game.

Hagersville was helped by Jacob Solomon, who grabbed one goal. Solomon scored 12:30 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Grimsby. Bailey Fletcher picked up the assist. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Mitch Green, who had one and Derek Friesen, who had two.

The Peach Kings' Jeremy Currie stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Grimsby incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jonah Capriotti rejected 28 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hagersville registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
