Novak, Dundas blank Hagersville, 4-0

The Dundas Blues used a sparkling performance by Brock Novak to take down the Hagersville Hawks, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Dundas' 4-0 shutout victory.

The Blues pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 25 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 21 seconds into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Dundas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Hagersville power plays. The Blues was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Dundas allows 2.6 goals per game. The Blues' offense rang up 37 shots on Hagersville's net.

Dundas was helped by Ben Sim, who had one goal. Sim scored 9:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dundas. Matt Johnson assisted on the tally. Dundas also got a goal from Cam McConnell as well. In addition, Dundas received assists from Nick McMullen, who had two and Jake Bain, Phoenix Schueler, and Kevin Jaczenko, who contributed one each.

The Hawks could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Hagersville puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Hawks forced the Blues goalie Novak to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Brock Novak made 41 saves for Dundas on 41 shots. The Blues registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Dundas, Zac Mihalis was ejected from the game. Curtis Dortenzio rejected 33 shots on goal for Hagersville. The Hawks ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. Hagersville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Clayton Millard was ejected from the game.
