Dunnville blows out Simcoe, 9-3

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats were firing on all cylinders against the Simcoe Storm, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Mudcats emerged with a 9-3 win.

Dunnville stifled Simcoe's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Mudcats kept the Storm's goalie busy throughout the game, and Note Pursky made 35 saves on 44 shots. Dunnville surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Jr. Mudcats average 4.0 goals per game. Dunnville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Jr. Mudcats were led by Josh Phibbs, who registered one goal and two assists. Phibbs scored 17:16 into the third period to make the score 9-3 Dunnville. Chad Springer provided the assist. Dunnville additionally got points from Mark Topp, who also had one goal and two assists, Josh Meeuwse, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Matt Dolan, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jeff May, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Luke Rowe, who also had one goal and one assist. Dunnville also had goals scored by Andy Metzler, Travis Sheldrake, and Dan Arrowsmith, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Ryan Hannigan and Davis Hart, who each chipped in one and Steven Czepek and Mack Steele, who contributed two each.

Simcoe was helped by Corson Searles, who tallied two goals. Searles scored the first of his two goals at 9:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dunnville. Tyler Arsenault picked up the assist. Searles' next tally made the score 7-2 Dunnville with 14:20 left in the third period. Jamie Kelly provided the assist. Simcoe also got a goal from Connor Mackay as well. More assists for Simcoe came via Ricky Johnston, who had one.

Josh Rosettani made 17 saves for Dunnville on 20 shots. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Storm incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
