Dundas blows out Simcoe, 5-1Niagara Jr. C Head Office Thu, Oct 23, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Cam McConnell had two goals to lead the Dundas Blues to a 5-1 victory over the Simcoe Storm. McConnell's tallies came at 7:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dundas and 16:19 into the second to make the score 3-1 Dundas.Dundas was led by goalie Dan Davies, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. Davies certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.0 entering the contest. The Blues' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Simcoe power plays. Dundas kept Simcoe's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kiere Andre made 40 saves on 45 shots. The Blues could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game. Others who scored for Dundas included Greg Harley, Ryan Waterhouse, and Luke Laurin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dundas received assists from Connor King, who had two and Ray Thompson, Thomas Dowling, Tyler Jones, and Clay Donnelly, who each chipped in one. The Storm did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Simcoe puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. Dundas was unable to stop the Storm from sending pucks towards the net, and Simcoe eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Storm's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Simcoe finished with 36 penalty minutes. The Storm were led by Tyler Nagy, who scored the team's only goal. Nagy scored 6:42 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Dave Denardi provided the assist. The Blues registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Simcoe, Denardi was ejected from the game.
