Hagersville falls to Glanbrook in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Chris Haigh gave the Glanbrook Rangers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Hagersville Hawks when he scored 4:20 into the extra period.

Glanbrook was paced by Haigh, who had one goal and one assist.

In the losing effort, Hagersville was sparked by Dan Mederios, who registered two goals and one assist. Mederios scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hagersville. The Hawks had taken the advantage when the Rangers' Brent Carey got sent off for pre-game violation. Kyle Phibbs picked up the assist. Mederios' next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 14:49 left in the third period. Bailey Fletcher provided the assist.

Glanbrook forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Rangers had been spending in the box. Penalties took their toll on Glanbrook, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Glanbrook also got points from Noah Matteson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Glanbrook also had goals scored by Aaron Smith, Garnet Batrynchuk, and Brad Parish, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Jacob Kelly and Cole Anderson, who contributed one each and Curtis Edwards and Chad Carey, who each chipped in two.

Hagersville additionally got points from Mitch Green, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Cole Martin also scored for Hagersville. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Brayden Hill and Derek Friesen, who contributed one each.

Matthew Venturelli recorded 25 saves for the Rangers. Glanbrook registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Rangers, Anderson was ejected from the game. Curtis Dortenzio made 25 saves for Hagersville on 30 shots. The Hawks ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Hagersville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Reichheld was ejected from the game.
