Grimsby rips Dunnville, 6-2

The Grimsby Peach Kings had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats.

Grimsby put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dunnville to score on any of its five power plays. The Jr. Mudcats were unable to stop the Peach Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Grimsby eventually piled up 48 shots on goal. The Peach Kings found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Grimsby averages 3.5 goals per game.

The Peach Kings were helped by Joshua Kozielski, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Kozielski scored 11:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Curtis Jacques provided the assist. Grimsby also got points from Curtis Conrad, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Grimsby included Jeromy Hopkins, who had two and Derek Rotter and Brennan Smith, who scored one goal each. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Aidan McCreadie, Andrew Brown, and Andrew McMurtrie, who each chipped in one and Dillon Cipretti and Christian Gaetano, who contributed two each.

Dunnville was helped by Steven Czepek, who had one goal. Czepek scored 1:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Grimsby. Luke Rowe picked up the assist. Dunnville also got a goal from Mack Steele as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Evan Huckalo, Jeff May, and Josh Phibbs, who each chipped in one.

Fraser Kirk rejected 25 shots on goal for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Josh Rosettani recorded 42 saves for the Jr. Mudcats. Dunnville was hit with 20 minutes in penalty time with two majors. Team's Steele and Rowe were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
