Dunnville shrugs off penalties, upends Dundas, 5-2

Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats were able to defeat the Dundas Blues, 5-2.

Dunnville was paced by Mack Steele, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Steele scored 1:13 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Dunnville.

Dundas was unable to stop the Jr. Mudcats from sending pucks towards the net, and Dunnville eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Jr. Mudcats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Dunnville also got points from Travis Shrlorahr, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Jeff May, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dunnville also had goals scored by Josh Meeuwse and Davis Hart, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Matt Dolan, who had two.

The Blues were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Dundas surpassed its season average of 33.0 penalty minutes per game. The Blues were held below their usual level of production. Dundas puts an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Blues were helped by Matt Johnson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Johnson scored 10:45 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Dunnville. Thomas Dowling picked up the assist. Dundas additionally got points from Kevin Jaczenko, who also tallied one goal and one assist.

Josh Rosettani rejected 26 shots on goal for Dunnville. The Jr. Mudcats registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Dan Davies recorded 37 saves for Dundas. The Blues registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Dundas, Nick McMullen and Greg Harley were ejected from the contest.
