Glanbrook beats Simcoe 10-4 as Edwards gets hat trick

Curtis Edwards netted a hat trick to lead the Glanbrook Rangers over the Simcoe Storm, 10-4.

Edwards got on the scoresheet 19:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 43 seconds into the second and at 10:10 into the second.

Glanbrook led by only one goal at the end of the first period, but put the game away by scoring six goals in the second.

Simcoe was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Rangers were able to score six times while on the power play.

Glanbrook forced the Storm's goalies to work without much rest, finishing with 41 shots and forcing 31 saves. Evan Wolfe made nine stops and Stephan Kyle made 22. The Rangers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Glanbrook has scored at the pace of 5.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Glanbrook also got points from Jacob Kelly, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Noah Matteson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Malcom Toman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Glanbrook also had goals scored by Chris Haigh, who had two and Aaron Smith and Anthony Whitwell, who scored one goal each. More assists for Glanbrook came via Garnet Batrynchuk, Tyler Strabac, and Owen Norton, who contributed one each and Drew Jedrzejewicz and Cole Anderson, who each chipped in two.

Simcoe racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 14 minors and one major for 73 minutes in penalty time. The Storm surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Simcoe forced the Rangers goalie Jay Payton to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Storm were helped by Bryce Cadwell, who racked up one goal. Cadwell scored on the power play 15:17 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Glanbrook. Simcoe had taken the advantage when Glanbrook's Cameron Frail got sent off for checking from behind. Corson Searles picked up the assist. Simcoe additionally got points from Riley Wilson, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Simcoe included Ray Munroe and Dakota Culbert, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Simcoe were Drake Bailey, who had one.

The Rangers' Payton stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Glanbrook ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Rangers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Frail was ejected from the game. The Storm registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Team's Connor Mackay, Cadwell, and Tyler Arsenault were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
