Huge game by May boosts Dunnville over Simcoe, 10-5

Jeff May had one goal and two assists to lead the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats to a 10-5 victory over the Simcoe Storm.

May scored 7:09 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Simcoe. Jamie Kelly provided the assist. Tyler Arsenault dished an assist on Corson Searles's goal that made the score 4-3 Simcoe at 9:43 into the second period.

In the losing effort, Simcoe was paced by Arsenault, who had two goals and one assist. Arsenault scored the first of his two goals at 19:57 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Simcoe. Kelly assisted on the tally. Arsenault's next tally made the score 6-5 Dunnville with 16:03 left in the third period. Ben Sim picked up the assist.

Dunnville forced Storm's goalies to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots and forcing 24 saves. Evan Wolfe made 23 stops and Ben Beechey made one. The Jr. Mudcats bested their season scoring average. Dunnville averages 3.7 goals per game.

Dunnville also got points from Josh Meeuwse, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Dunnville also had goals scored by Matt Dolan and Josh Phibbs, who each put in two and Evan Huckalo, Steven Czepek, Brandon Dear, and Luke Stevens, who scored one goal each. More assists for Dunnville came via Mark Topp, #$self.jersey, Luke Rowe, Chad Springer, and Dan Arrowsmith, who each chipped in one and Andy Metzler, Davis Hart, and Mack Steele, who contributed two each.

The Storm found themselves short handed often, totaling 22 penalty minutes and allowing 10 power plays.

Simcoe additionally got points from Searles, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Simcoe included Ray Munroe and Dakota Culbert, who each put in one. In addition, Simcoe received assists from Bryce Cadwell, who had one and Riley Wilson, who had three.

Josh Rosettani recorded 24 saves for the Jr. Mudcats. Dunnville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Simcoe registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
