Glanbrook survives Niagara comeback, wins 6-5

The Niagara Riverhawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Glanbrook Rangers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5.

Glanbrook made the score 6-4 on a goal by Chris Haigh at 16:14 in the third period, and Niagara got as close as 6-5 when Franklin Franck scored 19:37 into the third period.

Haigh and Brad Parish provided the spark for the Rangers, combining for four goals and one assist. Haigh registered two goals and one assist and Parish also added two goals.

Glanbrook stifled the Riverhawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Niagara was unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and Glanbrook eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Garnet Batrynchuk, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Glanbrook also got a goal from Curtis Edwards as well. More assists for Glanbrook came via Joel Tivanian and Noah Matteson, who each chipped in one.

The Riverhawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Niagara kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jay Payton made 41 saves on 46 shots.

The Riverhawks were led by Alex Cipriano, who grabbed two goals and two assists. Cipriano scored the first of his two goals at 47 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara. Cipriano's next tally made the score 4-2 Niagara with 15:24 left in the second period. Niagara also got points from Kyle Robertson, who also had one goal and one assist and Dylan Lazarus, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Glanbrook incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Scott Charanduk rejected 26 shots on goal for Niagara. The Riverhawks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
