Glanbrook uses big second period to beat Dundas, 5-1

The Dundas Blues was within striking distance after one period, but the Glanbrook Rangers put the pedal down in the second en route to a 5-1 victory.

Garnet Batrynchuk was all over the ice for Glanbrook, as he tallied two goals in the win. Batrynchuk's tallies came at 16:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Glanbrook and 1:07 into the second to make the score 2-0 Glanbrook.

The Rangers were led by goalie Matthew Venturelli, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Venturelli certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.5 entering the contest.

Glanbrook was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Glanbrook additionally got points from Brad Parish, who also had one goal and one assist. Glanbrook also had goals scored by Noah Matteson and Malcom Toman, who scored one goal each. In addition, Glanbrook received assists from Joel Tivanian and Tyler Strabac, who each chipped in one and Chris Haigh, Jacob Kelly, and Curtis Edwards, who contributed two each.

Dundas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Glanbrook power plays. The Blues' offense operated below their season average. Dundas averages 5.6 goals per game. The Blues forced the Rangers goalie Venturelli to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Dan Davies rejected 19 shots on goal for Dundas. The Blues incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Dundas, Connor King was ejected from the game.
