Grimsby rolls over Niagara, 3-0

The Niagara Riverhawks had trouble finding ways to stop the Grimsby Peach Kings, which beat Riverhawks, 3-0.

Grimsby pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Peach Kings were led by Christian Gaetano, who racked up one goal. Gaetano scored 12:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Malcolm Lynett assisted on the tally.

Grimsby's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Niagara power plays.

Grimsby also had goals scored by Jeromy Hopkins and Matthew Jambrosich, who scored one goal each. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Dillon Cipretti and Aidan McCreadie, who contributed one each.

Niagara's offense operated below its season average. The Riverhawks put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Fraser Kirk made 15 saves before being replaced by Jeremy Currie, who took the win and made 10 saves. The Peach Kings registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Scott Charanduk rejected 20 shots on goal for Niagara. The Riverhawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
