Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Grimsby Peach Kings defeated the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured six attempts between both teams.Grimsby came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Peach Kings trailed 2-1 after a power play goal by Dunnville's Jeff May at 19:59 in the second period. Grimsby knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Dillon Cipretti at 8:11 in the third period. The Peach Kings were helped by Curtis Conrad, who racked up one goal. Conrad scored 6:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. Malcolm Lynett picked up the assist. The Jr. Mudcats managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Dunnville finished below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Dunnville also got points from Andy Metzler, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Dan Arrowsmith, Luke Cordi, and Josh Phibbs, who each chipped in one. Jeremy Currie made 27 saves for Grimsby on 29 shots. The Peach Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Grimsby, Trevor McEneny was ejected from the game. Josh Rosettani recorded 26 saves for the Jr. Mudcats. Dunnville registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
