Currie stymies Dunnville, Grimsby wins 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Jeremy Currie helped the Grimsby Peach Kings defeat the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats, 3-1.

Grimsby was sparked by Joshua Kozielski, who racked up one goal. Kozielski scored 10:41 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. Nicholas Purves provided the assist.

The Peach Kings managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Grimsby ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Peach Kings forced Dunnville goalie Josh Rosettani to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Grimsby additionally got points from Purves, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Malcolm Lynett also scored for Grimsby. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Trevor McEneny, who had two and Jeromy Hopkins and Eric Cerino, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Mudcats' offense operated below their season average. Dunnville averages 3.4 goals per game. The Jr. Mudcats' offense rang up 34 shots on Grimsby's net.

Dunnville was led by Matt Dolan, who scored the team's only goal. Dolan scored 18:00 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Dan Arrowsmith assisted on the tally.

Jeremy Currie made 33 saves for the Peach Kings on 34 shots. Grimsby registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Jr. Mudcats' Rosettani stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Dunnville incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
