Dundas rips Hagersville, 6-2

The Dundas Blues had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Hagersville Hawks.

Hagersville's power play was ineffective against Dundas' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Blues were sparked by Matt Johnson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Johnson scored on the power play 54 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Dundas. Nick McMullen picked up the assist.

Dundas forced Hawks' goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Matt Murphy made 16 stops and Curtis Dortenzio made 21. The Blues stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dundas struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 40 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Dundas additionally got points from Ray Thompson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Kevin Jaczenko, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Dundas included Thomas Dowling, Zac Mihalis, and Clay Donnelly, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Ryan Waterhouse, who had two and Matt Scanlin, Connor King, and Braxton Andrews, who contributed one each.

Hagersville forced the Blues goalie Brock Novak to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Hagersville was helped by Derek Friesen, who registered one goal. Friesen scored 17:34 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Dundas. Dan Mederios assisted on the tally. Hagersville also got a goal from Mitch Green as well. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Brayden Hill, who had one.

Brock Novak made 41 saves for Dundas on 43 shots. The Blues registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Dundas ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Phoenix Schuler was ejected from the game. For the Hawks, Aaron Panter and John Monture were ejected from the contest.
