Robertson's hat trick boosts Niagara over Simcoe, 6-5

The Simcoe Storm could not stop the Niagara Riverhawks' Kyle Robertson, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-5 win.

Robertson notched his first tally 17 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 4:05 into the second and at 1:57 into the third.

Simcoe's power play was ineffective against Niagara's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Riverhawks stifled the Storm's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Niagara's offense rang up 32 shots on Simcoe's net. The Riverhawks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Niagara averages 3.5 goals per game. The Riverhawks found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Niagara also got points from Dylan Lazarus, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Niagara included Luke Brackett and Jakob Reeves, who each put in one. In addition, Niagara received assists from Dylan Leifso, who had one and Alex Cipriano, who had four.

The Storm kept Niagara's goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Charanduk made 28 saves on 33 shots.

Simcoe was led by Taz Myers, who finished with one goal and two assists. Myers scored 13:58 into the third period to make the score 5-5. Ricky Johnston provided the assist. Simcoe additionally got points from Johnston, who also registered one goal and one assist and Bryce Cadwell, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Simcoe also had goals scored by Jamie Kelly and Ben Sim, who scored one goal each.

The Riverhawks registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Storm's Eric Mulligan stopped 26 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Simcoe incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
