Madison Capitols 18U beats Pursuit of Excellence 18U 10-2 as Erickson gets hat trick

Phil Erickson netted a hat trick to lead Madison Capitols 18U over Pursuit of Excellence 18U, 10-2.

Erickson notched his first tally 4:51 into the second period. He then added goals at 8:19 into the second and at 4:30 into the third.

Pursuit of Excellence 18U trailed by one after the first period, but Madison Capitols 18U went into the second intermission with a 6-1 lead and never looked back.

Madison Capitols 18U forced Pursuit of Excellence 18U's goalies to work without much rest, ripping 36 shots and forcing 26 saves. Joseph McLeod made 20 stops and Colten Lancaster made six. Madison Capitols 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pursuit of Excellence 18U power plays. Madison Capitols 18U outdid its season average for goals scored. Madison Capitols 18U averages 4.5 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Madison Capitols 18U additionally got points from Austin Redders, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Kasey Fitzjerrels, who also registered two goals and one assist, Nicholas Hames, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Eugene Fedyeyev, who also had one goal and one assist.
