New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U vanquishes California Titans 18U in shootout, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U defeated California Titans 18U in a shootout 3-2.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams.

New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U was paced by Zach Berzolla, who finished with one goal. Berzolla scored 6:02 into the third period to make the score 2-1 New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U. Chris Wuestneck provided the assist.

In the losing effort, California Titans 18U was led by Dylan Miller, who registered two goals. Miller scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:20 into the second period to make the score 1-0 California Titans 18U. Connor Nilson assisted on the tally. Miller's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 4:51 left in the third period. A slashing penalty on Robert Jaworski had put California Titans 18U on the power play. Evan Somoza provided the assist.

New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U also got a goal from Max Weber as well. Other players who recorded assists for New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U were Greg Malafronte and Erik Layton, who contributed one each.

California Titans 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U power plays.

Cam Newman recorded 13 saves for New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U. New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. California Titans 18U's Nicholas Nast stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. California Titans 18U incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
