Esmark Stars 18U takes care of Arizona Bobcats 18U early, wins 7-0

Esmark Stars 18U jumped out to a six-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat Arizona Bobcats 18U, 7-0.

Esmark Stars 18U got the win with help from a great game by Carter Ekberg, who had one goal and two assists. Ekberg scored 2:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Esmark Stars 18U. David Jerome picked up the assist.

Esmark Stars 18U forced Arizona Bobcats 18U's goaltenders to work between the pipes, finishing with 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. Nathan Nazari made 29 stops and Josh Nolan made four. Esmark Stars 18U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Arizona Bobcats 18U to score on any of its four power plays. Esmark Stars 18U's defense was surprisingly good. Esmark Stars 18U gives up 2.1 goals on average per game. Esmark Stars 18U's goal total was higher than its season average.
