San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U vanquishes Esmark Stars 18U in shootout, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U defeated Esmark Stars 18U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout lasted for 16 attempts between the teams. Esmark Stars 18U's shootout goal was scored by Carter Ekberg. In addition to the clincher, San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U got a shootout goal from Ryan Meure.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U stifled Esmark Stars 18U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Esmark Stars 18U was unable to stop San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U from sending pucks towards the net, and San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U was led by Meure, who tallied one goal. Meure scored 6:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U. Jake Stom assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U were Trevor Weinstock, who had one.

Esmark Stars 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U power plays.
