Omaha AAA 18U vanquishes San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U in shootout, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Omaha AAA 18U defeated San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams. Omaha AAA 18U also got a shootout goal from Chase Whallon.

Omaha AAA 18U came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Omaha AAA 18U was down 1-0 after a goal by San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U's Alexander Beckert at 4:45 in the first period. Omaha AAA 18U knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Carter Dahl at 10:02 in the second period.

Omaha AAA 18U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

In addition, Omaha AAA 18U received assists from Colton Fletcher, who had one.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Omaha AAA 18U power plays.

Other players who recorded assists for San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U were Aaron Burden and Corey Semmelmayer, who each chipped in one.

Darion Hanson made 16 saves for Omaha AAA 18U on 17 shots. Omaha AAA 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Devin Cooley rejected 25 shots on goal for San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U. San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
