California Titans 16U's comeback falls short, St. Louis Selects 16U wins 4-3

St. Louis Selects 16U, which led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by California Titans 16U and clinched a 4-3 victory.

St. Louis Selects 16U led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when St. Louis Selects 16U's Tyler Hinterser scored at 28 seconds in the second period to put St. Louis Selects 16U up 4-1.

St. Louis Selects 16U kept California Titans 16U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Veeti Haapasalo made 36 saves on 40 shots.

St. Louis Selects 16U also had goals scored by Ricky Smith and Brad Rupp, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis Selects 16U were Justin Meers, who had two and Dan Reuben, Andy Willis, and Evgeniy Shomin, who contributed one each.

California Titans 16U was led by Dylan Denton, who registered two goals. Denton scored the first of his two goals at 1:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 California Titans 16U. Daylon Mannon provided the assist. Denton's next tally made the score 4-3 St. Louis Selects 16U with 3:16 left in the second period. Austin Hanson assisted on the tally. Triston Mends also scored for California Titans 16U. More assists for California Titans 16U came via Cameron Manory, Nickolai Gruzdev, and Jack Mackston, who each chipped in one.

Kyle McClellan recorded 21 saves for St. Louis Selects 16U. St. Louis Selects 16U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. California Titans 16U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities.
