Pikes Peak Miners 16U uses shootout to best HC Dallas 16U, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pikes Peak Miners 16U defeated HC Dallas 16U in a shootout 4-3.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. HC Dallas 16U got a shootout goal from Cameron Ferguson. Pikes Peak Miners 16U's other shootout goal was scored by Ross Hanson.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Pikes Peak Miners 16U made the score 3-1 on a goal by Todd Luther at 12:00 in the second period. HC Dallas 16U evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Conner Hunt at 6:15 in the third period.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Pikes Peak Miners 16U finished below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. Pikes Peak Miners 16U kept HC Dallas 16U's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Smith made 34 saves on 38 shots.
