New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U vanquishes Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U in shootout, 3-2

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U defeated Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U in a shootout 3-2.

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout. New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U's other shootout goal was scored by Matt Mood.

In the losing effort, Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U was sparked by Brendan Studioso, who tallied two goals. Studioso scored the first of his two goals at 8:38 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U. Sean Mallonee picked up the assist. Studioso's next tally made the score 2-2 with 16:11 left in the third period. Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U had gained a power play chance when Davin Van De Zilver was whistled for high sticking. Mallonee provided the assist.

In a losing effort, Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U was paced by Studioso, who grabbed two goals.

Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U was unable to stop New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U from sending pucks towards the net, and New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U was helped by Drew Murtha, who had one goal. Murtha scored 14:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U. Van De Zilver picked up the assist. Nick Godfrey also scored for New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U. Other players who recorded assists for New Jersey Jr. Titans 16U were Justin Mayer and Gavin Gulash, who each chipped in one.

Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

In addition, Everett Jr. Silvertips 16U received assists from Matt Clarke and Trail Thompson, who contributed one each.
