Choi's goals lift Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U to 6-1 victory over Team Illinois 16U

Patrick Choi was all over the ice for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U, as he tallied two goals in Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U's 6-1 win over Team Illinois 16U.

Choi's tallies came at 11:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U and 2:30 into the second to make the score 4-0 Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 35 penalty minutes.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:00 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U additionally got points from Ryan Gil, who also registered one goal and one assist and Alexander Werdmuller, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U also had goals scored by Paul Selleck and Justin Dixson, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U were Jack Gates, who had two and Jacob Mabaquiao, Andre Ghantous, Joshua Morrison, Chad Sasaki, and Kevin OLeary, who each chipped in one.

Team Illinois 16U forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Team Illinois 16U had been averaging 14.0 minutes in penalties per game. Team Illinois 16U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Timothy Huxen made 16 saves for Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U on 17 shots. Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mabaquiao was ejected from the game. Andrew Farah recorded 24 saves for Team Illinois 16U. Team Illinois 16U registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For Team Illinois 16U, Brandon Zaccarro was ejected from the game.
