Helena rolls over Yellowstone, 5-2

The Yellowstone Quake had trouble finding ways to stop the Helena Bighorns, which beat Quake, 5-2.

Helena was sparked by Matt Mohar, who finished with one goal. Mohar scored on the power play 17:05 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Helena. The Bighorns earned a power play opportunity when Averi Lison was put in the box for too many men. Brian Skillicorn assisted on the tally.

Yellowstone was unable to stop Helena from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bighorns eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Helena also got points from Gavin Lubin, who also had one goal and one assist. Helena also had goals scored by Brandon Mills, Kyler Chartier, and Brandt Miller, who each put in one. In addition, Helena received assists from Johnny Bonta, who had three and Nick Trefry and Jay Forbes, who each chipped in one.

The Quake kept Helena's goalie busy throughout the game, and Grant Martens made 38 saves on 40 shots.

Yellowstone was helped by Will Landsverk, who grabbed one goal. Landsverk scored short handed 13:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Helena. The Quake found themselves down a man on Ross Mullen's tripping. Nick Ligocki picked up the assist. Yellowstone additionally got points from Sean Pilet, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Max Doner and Mike McCullen, who contributed one each.

The Bighorns totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Helena, Matt Blassic was ejected from the game. Lance Knudson made 32 saves for Yellowstone on 37 shots. The Quake incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
