Peoria rolls over Minnesota, 7-2

The Peoria Mustangs were firing on all cylinders against the Minnesota Flying Aces, and when the final buzzer sounded Mustangs emerged with a 7-2 win.

Mitchell McPherson had one goal and two assists to lead Peoria. McPherson scored 57 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-0 Peoria. Nathan Marlow picked up the assist.

The Mustangs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Minnesota power plays. Peoria's offense rang up 32 shots on Minnesota's net. The Mustangs surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Peoria averages 3.9 goals per game.

Peoria additionally got points from Thomas Kolaz, who also registered one goal and one assist. Levi Armstrong also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Kai Barber and Clayton Layne, who each chipped in one and Nathan Scofield, Jason Hoehn, and Andrej Buchko, who contributed two each.

The Flying Aces stifled the Mustangs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Minnesota forced Peoria goalie Marc Hayton to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Flying Aces were helped by Blake Neumann, who grabbed one goal. Neumann scored 15:54 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Peoria. Bradee Thompson assisted on the tally. Minnesota also got a goal from Isak Larson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Minnesota were Tyler Gallagher, Ty Ennis, and Ryan Conybear, who each chipped in one.

The Mustangs' Hayton stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Peoria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Spencer Mannes recorded 25 saves for Minnesota. The Flying Aces incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
