Pittsburgh boosted by Stack's play in net, beats Toledo 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Jacob Stack helped the Pittsburgh Vengeance defeat the Toledo Cherokee, 4-1.

Pittsburgh was led by Adem Arifi, who racked up one goal. Arifi scored on the power play 15:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pittsburgh. A boarding penalty on Ted Austin had put the Vengeance on the power play. Nils Markgren assisted on the tally.

Pittsburgh managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Vengeance wound up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Markgren, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Bryan Hovanec and Brennan Osen, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Cody Black, who had two and Brooks Antill, Eli Lynn, and Michael Straub, who contributed one each.

Toledo managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Cherokee ended up below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Toledo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Cherokee put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

Toledo was led by Tristin Snyder, who scored the team's only goal. Snyder scored 9:40 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Dominic Pisanti provided the assist.

Jacob Stack made 26 saves for Pittsburgh on 27 shots. The Vengeance registered one goal on one power play opportunities. Aaron Callan took the loss and made one save before being replaced by Glen Bates who made 15 saves. The Cherokee registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
