Nashville rips Topeka, 4-1

The Nashville Jr. Predators were firing on all cylinders against the Topeka Capitals, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Predators emerged with a 4-1 win.

Nashville was sparked by Spencer Marchand, who finished with one goal and one assist. Marchand scored 17:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Nashville. Noah Keener picked up the assist.

The Jr. Predators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Topeka to score on any of its three power plays. The Capitals were unable to stop Nashville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Predators eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Nashville also got points from Topi Samuli Aheristo, who also registered one goal and one assist, Trent Kulczyk, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Colton Anderson, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Nashville were Alex Durand, who had one and Jon Severson, who had two.

Topeka excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Capitals' offense operated below their season average. Topeka puts an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game. The Capitals' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Topeka finished with 26 penalty minutes.

The Capitals were led by Kyle Rimbach, who scored the team's only goal. Rimbach scored 16:49 into the second period to make the score 1-1.

Justin Ball rejected 19 shots on goal for Nashville. The Jr. Predators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ryan Lund recorded 29 saves for Topeka.
