Metro holds on for 5-4 win against Southern Tier

The Southern Tier Xpress tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Metro Jets held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Ryan Bloom put Metro up 5-3 in the third period, but Southern Tier pulled to within one on Luke Sunde's tally 15:21 into the third period.

Bloom had a great game for the Jets, netting two goals.

Metro's offense rang up 43 shots on the Xpress' net.

Metro also got points from Jake Sealy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Metro included Alex Holm and Jacob Drinkard, who scored one goal each. More assists for Metro came via Tyler Layle, Andrew Sawyer, TJ Krajewski, and Matt Dempsey, who contributed one each and Jason Newel and Zach Koonce, who each chipped in two.

Southern Tier forced the Jets' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 42 shots and forcing 38 saves. Kameron Limburg made 30 stops and Jake Stephan made eight.

Southern Tier additionally got points from Brandon Desrosiers, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Mark Sunde also scored for Southern Tier. In addition, Southern Tier received assists from Tobias Gabrielsen, who had two and Alec Hooper and Curtis Carlson, who contributed one each.

Metro incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Cody Gibson recorded 38 saves for the Xpress. Southern Tier incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
