Metro blows out Pittsburgh, 6-3

The Pittsburgh Vengeance had trouble finding ways to stop the Metro Jets, which beat Vengeance, 6-3.

Metro got the win thanks to a great game by Cooper McLean, who had one goal and two assists. McLean scored 4:02 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Metro. Cody Jones assisted on the tally.

Metro additionally got points from Jacob Drinkard, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jones, who also registered one goal and one assist. Metro also had goals scored by Kyle Shreve, Ryan Bloom, and Zach Koonce, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Graham Day, who had three and David Chavis, Andrew Sawyer, Jake Sealy, Jacob Rutkoske, and Matt Dempsey, who each chipped in one.

Pittsburgh managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Vengeance wound up below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

Pittsburgh was helped by Jake Parry, who had one goal. Parry scored 8:53 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Metro. Nils Markgren picked up the assist. Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Eli Lynn and Robert Ferrari, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Bryan Hovanec, Adem Arifi, Brennan Conway, Brennan Osen, and Michael Straub, who contributed one each.

The Jets' Jake Stephan stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Metro incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Vengeance's starting goalie, Brian Baker, made 13 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jacob Stack, who stopped nine shots. Pittsburgh registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
