The Toledo Cherokee tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. Cleveland made the score 2-0 on a goal by Patrick Briggs at 6:57 in the second period, and Toledo got as close as 2-1 when Dominic Pisanti scored 19:31 into the third period. The Jr. Lumberjacks' Sam Pikus was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 37 saves and let only one puck past him. Pikus managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.0 prior to the game. Cleveland's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Toledo power plays. The Jr. Lumberjacks kept the Cherokee's goalie busy throughout the game, and Aaron Callan made 30 saves on 32 shots. Trey Rossbach also scored for Cleveland. Other players who recorded assists for Cleveland were Tyler Dalton, who had two and Branden Walsh and John Barlow, who contributed one each. Toledo stifled Cleveland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cherokee did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Toledo puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Cherokee forced the Jr. Lumberjacks goalie Pikus to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. In addition, Toledo received assists from Mark McGee and Cody Estrel, who each chipped in one. Cleveland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Toledo incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
