Callan leads Toledo to shutout victory over Cincinnati

Aaron Callan made 26 saves to complete the shutout and led the Toledo Cherokee to a 7-0 win against the Cincinnati Swords.

Cody Estrel was all over the ice for Toledo, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Estrel scored 9:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. David Bogart picked up the assist.

The Cherokee featured an improved defense during the game. Toledo averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Cherokee forced Cincinnati goalie James Schroeder to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Toledo found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Cherokee average 3.3 goals per game.

Toledo additionally got points from Dominic Pisanti, who also had one goal and one assist, Tyler Zalecki, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Mark McGee, who also registered two goals and one assist. Toledo also had goals scored by Evan Heldt and Zach Swanson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Toledo received assists from Tristin Snyder, who had three and Michael Pisanti, Cam Schwartz, Austin Turner, Brody Duncan, and Kyler Omey, who each chipped in one.

Toledo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Schroeder recorded 32 saves for the Swords. Cincinnati incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
