Peoria falls to La Crosse in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Hunter Smith gave the La Crosse Freeze a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Peoria Mustangs when he scored 1:15 into the extra period.

La Crosse was led by Smith, who racked up one goal.

The Freeze put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Peoria to score on any of its four power plays. The Mustangs were unable to stop La Crosse from sending pucks towards the net, and the Freeze eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Taylor Trapp also scored for La Crosse. More assists for La Crosse came via Daniel Toycen and Tyler Gorniak, who contributed one each.

Peoria did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Mustangs put an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

Peoria was led by Thomas Kolaz, who scored the team's only goal. Kolaz scored 14:07 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Jason Hoehn picked up the assist.

La Crosse's Andrew Wagner stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Freeze incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Marc Hayton rejected 40 shots on goal for the Mustangs. Peoria incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
