Twin City holds on for 4-2 win against North Iowa

The Twin City Steel survived a determined comeback attempt by the North Iowa Bulls on the way to a 4-2 win.

A goal by Jay Paul put Twin City up 4-1 in the second period, but North Iowa pulled to within two on Jake Mullendore's tally 6:42 into the third period.

The Steel were led by Jared Erickson, who had one goal. Erickson scored 12:28 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Twin City. Aharon Lara provided the assist.

Twin City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Twin City additionally got points from Tristan Mayer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nicholas Campbell also scored for Twin City. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Lance Carney, who had two and Mathias Ahman, Joe Costello, Connor Boscaccy, and Russel Barone, who each chipped in one.

The Bulls were held below their usual level of production. North Iowa puts an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. The Steel were unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and North Iowa eventually piled up 46 shots on goal.

North Iowa also got a goal from Tommy Heinzman as well. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Jack Stang, who had two and Robert Click and Ryan Durant, who contributed one each.

Robbie Goor rejected 44 shots on goal for Twin City. The Steel totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Twin City, Costello was ejected from the game. The Bulls' starting goalie, Chris Amsden, made nine saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of David Johnson, who stopped 15 shots. North Iowa ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. The Bulls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Johnson was ejected from the game.
