Nashville earns hard-fought 1-0 win over Dallas

The Nashville Jr. Predators and the Dallas Jr. Stars played 60 tight minutes of hockey, but in the end it was Nashville that came away with a 1-0 victory.

The assists on the winning goal came courtesy of Trent Kulczyk and Colton Anderson.

The Jr. Predators were sparked by Jon Severson, who had one goal. Severson scored 1:13 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Nashville. Kulczyk assisted on the tally.

Nashville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Predators were held below their usual level of production. Nashville puts an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Predators forced Dallas goalie Chris Mallon to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots.

The Jr. Stars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Nashville power plays. Dallas' offense operated below its season average. The Jr. Stars average 2.4 goals per game. Dallas did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting seven shots on net to force seven saves.

Nashville's Nathan Klebe stopped seven shots out of the seven that he faced. The Jr. Predators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mallon recorded 49 saves for the Jr. Stars. Dallas incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
