North Iowa downs Granite City, 3-0

Trey Gardner finished with two points to lead the North Iowa Bulls to a 3-0 victory over the Granite City Lumberjacks.

North Iowa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Granite City to score on any of its three power plays. The Bulls could not produce up to their normal offensive output. North Iowa averages 5.1 goals per game. The Bulls featured an improved defense during the game. North Iowa averages 2.2 goals allowed per game. The Lumberjacks were unable to stop the Bulls from sending pucks towards the net, and North Iowa eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

North Iowa additionally got points from Jake Mullendore, who also had one goal and one assist. Johnny Panvica also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Jake Johnson, who had two and Joe Kleven and Brett Gravelle, who each chipped in one.

Granite City was held below its usual level of production. The Lumberjacks put an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game.

The Bulls' Chris Amsden stopped 21 shots out of the 21 that he faced. North Iowa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jesse Garcia made 37 saves for Granite City on 40 shots. The Lumberjacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
