Nashville earns hard-fought 1-0 win over Point Mallard

The Nashville Jr. Predators beat the Point Mallard Ducks 1-0 in a game that featured tenacious defense, solid goalkeeping and a winning score from Ben Falk.

Falk's tally was assisted by Dominic Costello and Kyle Van Wyk.

Nashville was sparked by Falk, who registered one goal. Falk scored 14:51 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Nashville. Costello assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Predators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Point Mallard to score on any of its three power plays. Nashville could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Jr. Predators average 5.1 goals per game. Nashville forced the Ducks goalie Roman Bengert to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Point Mallard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Nashville power plays. The Ducks were held below their usual level of production. Point Mallard puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game.

Justin Ball rejected 15 shots on goal for the Jr. Predators. Nashville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bengert recorded 34 saves for the Ducks. Point Mallard incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
