Hamilton lifts Point Mallard over Cincinnati, 7-2

Josh Hamilton had two goals to lead the Point Mallard Ducks to a 7-2 victory over the Cincinnati Swords.

Hamilton's tallies came at 19 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 16:38 into the second to make the score 4-2 Point Mallard.

Point Mallard forced Cincinnati goalie James Schroeder to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Ducks' goal total was higher than their season average. Point Mallard has scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

Others who scored for Point Mallard included Matt Darnell, who had two and Jake Cox, Killan Gray, and Chris Corgan, who scored one goal each. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Justin Dunn, who had three, Jake Champaign, who had four, and Noah Gilreath, Brad Reitter, Stephen Coulter, Justin Provencher, Justin Delisle, and Matt Goodman, who contributed one each.

The Swords put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Ducks to score on any of their three power plays.

Cincinnati was helped by Oliver Ahlberg, who registered one goal. Ahlberg scored 9:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cincinnati. Brenden Williams picked up the assist. Cincinnati also got points from Williams, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Cincinnati were Chris Hubbard and Jeff Balow, who each chipped in one.

Aaron Brickman made 14 saves for Point Mallard on 16 shots. The Ducks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Schroeder recorded 27 saves for the Swords. Cincinnati incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
