Metro falls to Toledo in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Toledo Cherokee pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Metro Jets on a clutch goal by Cody Estrel.

Toledo overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cherokee fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Metro's Jake Sealy at 6:47 in the second period. Toledo tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Tyler Zalecki at 2:17 in the third period.

Estrel was all over the ice for the Cherokee, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Estrel scored 3:44 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Toledo. Mark McGee picked up the assist.

Toledo was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Toledo additionally got points from Zalecki, who also racked up one goal and two assists and McGee, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Toledo came via Brody Duncan, who had one.

The Jets were held below their usual level of production. Metro puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

The Jets were helped by Matt Dempsey, who registered one goal. Dempsey scored 4:16 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Metro. Tyler Layle provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were TJ Krajewski, Jacob Rutkoske, and Zach Koonce, who contributed one each.

Glen Bates made 14 saves for the Cherokee on 16 shots. Toledo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jake Stephan rejected 27 shots on goal for Metro. The Jets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
