A hat trick by Chris Corgan was the highlight in Ducks' 9-1 win against the Sugar Land Imperials. Corgan's first goal came 12:42 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:42 into the third and at 12:34 into the third.The Point Mallard Ducks were led by goalie Roman Bengert, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Bengert certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.5 entering the contest. Point Mallard forced Sugar Land's goaltenders to work all game long, getting 31 shots and forcing 22 saves. Timothy OSullivan made 15 stops and Colton Anderson made seven. The Ducks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Point Mallard surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Ducks average 3.8 goals per game. Point Mallard also got points from Jake Champaign, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Jake Cox, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Josh Hamilton, who also registered one goal and one assist. Point Mallard also had goals scored by Jakob Hornsby and Killan Gray, who each put in one. More assists for Point Mallard came via Noah Gilreath, Grant Dukus, Gabor Belenyesi, Justin Delisle, Davis Hudson, and Matt Darnell, who each chipped in one and Brad Reitter, Justin Provencher, Jaleel Rosemond, and Justin Clark, who contributed two each. The Imperials stifled Point Mallard's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Sugar Land forced the Ducks goalie Bengert to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Point Mallard incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Imperials incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sugar Land ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Drew Waetjen was ejected from the game.
